Green Onion Pancake With Sesame Seeds

Crispy and super aromatic!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup hot water

  • 1/4 cup cold water

  • 1/4 teaspoon five spice powder

  • 8 stalks green onion, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds

  • Salt

  • Oil



Method:

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, hot and cold water and 1/4 teaspoon salt to form a dough

  2. In the same bowl, knead dough for 3 minutes

  3. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and rest dough for 10 minutes

  4. Spread a little flour on a kneading board

  5. Place dough on kneading board and knead for 5-6 minutes

  6. Put dough back to bowl and cover bowl again

  7. Rest dough for 1 hour

  8. In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon five spice powder

  9. Heat 3 tablespoons oil in pan over medium heat until a little steam can be seen

  10. Pour hot oil into flour mixture and stir well to form a shortening

  11. Spread a little flour on kneading board again

  12. Put dough on kneading board and roll dough into a 10”x10” sheet with a rolling pin

  13. Spread shortening on sheet and sprinkle sesame seeds on it

  14. Add green onions on top evenly

  15. Roll sheet up to form a sausage

  16. Cut sausage into 8 equal segments

  17. With each segment, close each end by pinching the outside layer of dough together

  18. Place one of the closed ends on kneading board

  19. Use a rolling pin to roll the segment into a very thin pancake

  20. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in pan over medium heat

  21. Fry each pancake until golden and crispy on both sides

  22. Serve warm
