Crunchy and flakey!
Ingredients for dough:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
Oil
Ingredients for shortening:
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon five spice powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons oil
Method:
For dough, combine flour, salt and water in a bowl and mix well
Cover bowl for 10 minutes
In the same bowl, knead dough for 10 minutes until smooth
Cover bowl and rest dough for 1 hour
For shortening, combine flour, five spice powder, salt and oil in a small bowl and set aside
Sprinkle a little flour on kneading mat
Transfer dough to mat
With a rolling pin, roll dough into a 10”x10” sheet
Spread shortening on sheet
Roll sheet up to form a sausage
Divide sausage into 8 equal portions
Shape each portion into a ball
Roll each ball into a sheet as thin as possible
Sprinkle sesame seeds on one side of the sheet
Use the rolling pin to press the sesame seeds into sheet
Heat 1 teaspoon oil in pan over medium heat
Place one sheet in pan and brown both sides (do not burn the sesame seeds)
Serve warm
