Vegan Ma Po Tofu
Vegan Ma Po Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 box medium firm tofu, diced

  • 3 large fresh shiitake mushrooms, chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon oil

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Chinese hot bean sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Lao Gan Ma fried chili oil

  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian stir fry sauce

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • Salt to taste


Method:

  1. Heat oil in wok over medium high heat

  2. Add minced garlic and stir a few times

  3. Add hot bean sauce and fried chili oil and vegetarian stir fry sauce and stir a few times

  4. Add water, soy sauce and sugar and mix well

  5. Bring the mixture to boil

  6. Add mushrooms and let cook for 20 seconds

  7. Add tofu and cook for 2-3 minutes

  8. Add green onions and salt to taste

  9. Serve warm


NOTE: All ingredients can be found in Chinese markets.
