Vegan Sweet & Sour Tofu
Vegan Sweet & Sour Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 box tofu, cut into 1”x2” chunks

  • 1/2 onion, cut into chunks

  • 1 8oz can pineapple, chunks

  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 10 tablespoons pineapple juice

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1.5 teaspoons brown sugar

  • 1 cup oil



Method:

  1. Dry tofu well with paper towel

  2. Coat tofu with cornstarch

  3. For sauce, combine pineapple juice, ketchup, soy sauce and brown sugar in a bowl and mix well

  4. Heat oil in pan over medium high heat

  5. Add tofu and fry until golden on both sides

  6. Turn off heat

  7. Transfer tofu to a plate

  8. Pour hot oil into a bowl for later use

  9. Add 1 teaspoon hot oil back to the same pan and heat over medium high heat

  10. Add onion and stir a few times

  11. Add sauce and bring to a boil

  12. Cook until sauce starts to thicken

  13. Turn off heat

  14. Pour sauce onto tofu

  15. Serve warm
